Good health and nutrition are at the heart of Cross River’s plan to boost productivity and sustainable development. Governor Bassey Otu inaugurated a 15-member nutrition council, emphasizing nutrition and preventive healthcare as key to his human capital agenda. He stressed that no society can thrive without healthy, well-nourished citizens and pledged policies to improve diets, scale up school feeding, and fortify staple foods.
Otu highlighted that healthier children lead to better education, a stronger workforce, and a more prosperous economy. The council will partner with federal agencies, donors, and communities to expand nutrition programs across the state.
