OPCI URGES TINUBU TO LEGALISE FIREARMS FOR RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS AMID SECURITY CRISIS

The Oodua Progressive Care Initiative (OPCI) has called on the Federal Government to reconsider firearm laws and allow responsible Nigerians to own guns as a response to rampant insecurity. OPCI President Dr. Maruff Olarewaju argued that legalizing firearms will empower citizens to defend themselves and deter criminals, complementing existing security efforts.

Highlighting attacks in states like Plateau, Kwara, Niger, and Borno, Olarewaju stressed that billions spent on security have yet to curb crime or illegal arms proliferation. He urged President Tinubu to lead a national dialogue on security reforms involving citizens.
