Delta Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has approved an immediate ₦10 billion release to settle outstanding pension arrears for retired civil servants. Since taking office, his administration has paid over ₦36.4 billion in pensions, disbursing ₦1.4 billion monthly, while ensuring arrears from previous administrations are cleared.
Oborevwori emphasised retirees’ welfare as a top priority and set up an oversight team to ensure transparent fund management. Pension board and retirees’ leaders hailed the move as a much-needed relief and generous show of commitment.
