Iran has publicly hanged a man convicted of murdering a woman and her three children during a robbery in southern Fars province, Iranian media reported. His wife, also sentenced to death, is expected to be executed inside prison.
Public executions are uncommon in Iran but human rights groups condemn the country’s frequent use of capital punishment, with over 1,000 executed in 2024 alone, according to the UN.
