GERMAN FIREFIGHTERS JOIN EFFORTS TO TACKLE SPAIN’S WORST WILDFIRES IN DECADES

Germany has deployed 67 firefighters and 23 vehicles to northern Spain to help fight the country’s most severe wildfires in decades. The team arrived in San Sebastián before heading to the Extremadura region, where around 15,000 hectares have already been destroyed.

Spain and neighboring Portugal are battling multiple major fires, with reinforcements arriving from several European countries. Officials warn of dangerous conditions with shifting winds, but rain relief remains unlikely. The blazes have caused four deaths in Spain and two in Portugal, with thousands evacuated.
