UNESCO RECOGNISES SANGO FESTIVAL AS INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF HUMANITY

The UNESCO has officially inscribed Nigeria’s Sango Festival as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The certificate was presented by Minister Hannatu Musawa to the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Abdulhakeem Owoade I, at the grand finale of the 2025 World Sango Festival in Oyo State.

This landmark recognition highlights Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and the ministry’s commitment to using culture for international diplomacy, sustainable tourism, and community empowerment. The Alaafin thanked President Tinubu and the ministry for their support in promoting Nigeria’s vibrant cultural identity globally.
