A 200-level Dentistry student at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ajibola Ibitayo, tragically committed suicide after learning he would have to repeat an academic year for the second time. The university confirmed he took his life at home in Ejigbo, Osun, following the release of his semester results. His father is a medical doctor.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Simeon Bamire expressed condolences and urged parents to teach children resilience, emphasizing that setbacks are part of growth and not the end. He encouraged students to see failure as a chance to change direction and succeed.
