Lagos State is kickstarting a pilot Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiative to revolutionise water delivery, tackling rising demand from urban growth with tech-driven, sustainable solutions. The two-day stakeholder meeting, supported by WaterAid Nigeria, highlights the state’s commitment to expanding infrastructure, improving efficiency, and ensuring uninterrupted access to clean water for all Lagosians.
LWC’s MD Mukhtaar Tijani stressed that this partnership is about smart collaboration—not privatization—to enhance production, reduce losses, and extend service to underserved areas. The pilot focuses on mini and micro waterworks, leveraging private expertise and funding while maintaining strong government oversight. WaterAid praised the initiative and encouraged scaling the Akilo water scheme as a model for sustainable urban water supply.
