ENUGU GOV LAUNCHES 100 CNG BUSES, PROMISES 20,000 JOBS AND ECONOMIC BOOST

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has unveiled 100 modern Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses and five new bus terminals, pledging to create at least 20,000 jobs and drive the state’s GDP toward $30 billion in six years. The new transport system promises affordable, accessible, and seamless travel, supporting schools, markets, and major routes while cutting transport costs by over 40%.

Mbah credits President Tinubu’s fuel subsidy removal for enabling this 21st-century infrastructure revolution and announced plans for 2,000 hybrid vehicles to accompany the disability-friendly CNG fleet. Enhanced terminals boast air conditioning, eateries, lodging, security systems, and e-ticketing to boost comfort and transparency. The rollout forms part of a broader vision including air, rail, and waterways transport, all prioritising safety and dignity.
