NAFDAC’s Investigation and Enforcement team has confiscated 10,000+ cartons of unregistered tomato paste and various cosmetics at Lagos Trade Fair Market, aiming to protect Nigerians from harmful, unregulated products. Dr. Martins Iluyomade stressed that these items pose serious health risks, with deaths from substandard goods surpassing even those caused by Boko Haram.
The agency is ramping up efforts through a newly formed multi-agency task force and strong border controls in partnership with Nigeria Customs Service, focusing on keeping fake and unsafe products out of the market. Nigerians are urged to verify products through NAFDAC’s registration system to ensure safety and compliance.
