Former TUC President Peter Esele has expressed deep disappointment over Fuji legend K1 De Ultimate’s refusal to follow airport rules, highlighting the broader problem of impunity in Nigeria. K1 was barred from boarding a ValueJet flight from Abuja to Lagos for trying to carry a flask with liquid over the permitted 100ml. The situation escalated when K1 reportedly poured the liquid on the flight captain and others, sparking outrage and a travel ban by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
Esele condemned the act as symbolic of a culture where fame shields people from consequences, urging Nigerians to demand justice and rebuild respect for the law. He stressed that in a functioning society, K1’s actions would have led to swift legal repercussions, not just an apology. The NCAA has placed K1 on a no-fly list pending investigation, while Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo backs the probe.
