NIGERIAN PARA-POWERLIFTERS HEAD TO WORLD CUP IN CHILE WITH GOLD IN SIGHT

A strong Nigerian para-powerlifting team of 10 athletes departs Monday for the Para-Powerlifting World Cup in Santiago, Chile, from August 11-18. Led by world record holder and team rep Oluwafemiayo Folashade (+86kg), the squad is set to defend Nigeria’s global dominance across various weight classes.

Folashade expressed high hopes for gold, thanking the Sports Commission and Paralympic Committee for their backing. The team aims to continue Nigeria’s legacy as a para-powerlifting powerhouse and hopes their success will earn recognition from President Bola Tinubu.
