The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is intensifying its crackdown on shanties and parks used by criminals as hideouts across Abuja. Since August 6, a city-wide cleanup involving removal of illegal structures, vehicle impoundments, and weapon seizures has targeted hotspots like the Jazz and Blues Entertainment area in Panorama Recreational Park, Wuse Zone 3. Despite multiple warnings since 2024, illegal activities persisted, prompting final eviction actions.
FCTA assures residents that core park facilities remain intact and emphasizes this operation is a focused security measure based on verified intelligence—not persecution. The clean-up will expand to other districts to create a safer Abuja where all can live, work, and enjoy public spaces without fear.
