Oyo State Mourns as Ibadan Community Bids Farewell to Late Olubadan

A solemn mood enveloped St. Peter’s Cathedral in Aremo, Ibadan, on Friday, August 8, 2025, as dignitaries gathered to pay their last respects to the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin. Among those present were Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, his deputy Mr. Bayo Lawal, Major-General O.G. Onubogu, General Officer Commanding 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, and Mr. Taofeek Arapaja, PDP National Deputy Chairman (South).
The funeral service brought together government officials, military leaders, and political figures, underscoring the late monarch’s significance to the community and the state at large.

As prayers echoed through the cathedral, the gathering reflected on the legacy left behind, and the path ahead as Ibadan mourns the loss of a revered traditional leader.
