The Benue State House of Assembly has refused to screen Governor Hyacinth Alia’s commissioner nominees until the executive addresses unresolved issues, including unfulfilled resolutions and lawmaker welfare. Speaker Hyacinth Dajoh emphasised that without meeting the Assembly’s demands—such as suspending certain officials and providing official cars for seven members—no further executive correspondence will be entertained.
Lawmakers highlighted delays in constituency allowances, incomplete chamber renovations, and lack of official vehicles as factors undermining their work. While some supported adjourning sittings indefinitely, others urged continued engagement but stood firm on holding the executive accountable to its commitments for a functional legislature.
