BANDIT ATTACKS IN MUSHERE DISPLACE OVER 25,000, DESTROY HOMES AND FARMLANDS

The Mushere Youths Movement reports that armed bandits have displaced more than 25,000 people across several communities in Mushere District, Plateau State, following a series of brutal attacks between May and August 2025. Gunmen destroyed 55 houses, farmlands, schools, churches, and other properties worth millions of naira, killing at least 37 people. The attacks, described as economic sabotage, threaten food security as farmlands are left untended while livestock freely graze on crops.

The group calls for justice, compensation, and urgent federal intervention with increased security deployments. Despite some efforts by Governor Caleb Mutfwang and President Bola Tinubu, Mushere residents urge more proactive steps to restore peace and protect livelihoods.
