TINUBU MOURNS DOYINSOLA ABIOLA, MEDIA ICON AND SOLDIER OF DEMOCRACY

President Bola Tinubu expressed heartfelt sorrow over the passing of Dr. Doyinsola Abiola, hailing her as a trailblazing media pioneer and a true soldier of democracy. At 82, Dr. Abiola broke gender barriers as the first woman to edit and manage a national newspaper and played a vital role in Nigeria’s democratic struggles, especially after the annulled June 12, 1993 election.

Tinubu remembered her journalism journey from Daily Sketch to leading the Concord Group, her bold defense of truth and justice under military rule, and her unwavering support for her late husband, Chief MKO Abiola. He extended condolences to her family and called for more women like her to shape Nigeria’s future.
