Today, Ghana mourns a profound loss as a military helicopter crashed in the Ashanti region, claiming the lives of eight—including two esteemed cabinet ministers. The Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, and the Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, were aboard the ill-fated Z-9EH helicopter en route from Accra to Obuasi for a crucial event combating illegal mining. Alongside them were senior officials and the three crew members, all of whom perished.
The crash has left Ghana in grief, with President Mahama and government officials extending deepest condolences to the families and the nation. Flags will fly at half-mast as the country honours those who served with dedication. Investigations are underway to uncover the cause of this devastating accident.
