Since July 7, Operation Sweep Abuja has confiscated 675 vehicles and arrested 273 beggars across the FCT, targeting illegal activities like unlicensed taxi operations and drug peddling. Police Commissioner Ajao Adewale revealed that beggars are being profiled with some set for repatriation, while drug offenders have been handed to NDLEA. Efforts continue to boost security presence at bus stops and crack down on traffic violations.
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has ordered crackdowns on shanties, illegal mining sites, IDP camps, and illicit activities harming the city’s environment. Meanwhile, a peace accord has been signed to end farmer-herder clashes in Gwagwalada, signaling progress in community security.
