Nollywood’s epic historical drama, “Amanyanabo: The Eagle King,” directed by Fred Amata and produced by veteran star Ibinabo Fiberesima, premieres globally in the UK on August 29 before hitting Nigerian cinemas on September 12. The film tells the powerful true story of King Ibanichuka, the last ruler of Okrika, battling colonial forces and betrayal in the 1892 Niger Delta.
Featuring a star-studded cast including Nkem Owoh, Monalisa Chinda, and Fiberesima herself, the movie showcases the rich culture and political sophistication of pre-colonial African society, all shot in the creeks of Okrika. Tagged as “The First of Its Kind! A movement, not just a movie,” it aims to rewrite African history on the big screen.
