Kaduna State has inaugurated baby creches in key government institutions, offering working mothers safe, supportive spaces to breastfeed and care for their babies. This move, part of the 2025 World Breastfeeding Week campaign, underscores the government’s commitment to maternal and child health, gender-sensitive governance, and workplace dignity.
Commissioner for Health Umma Kaltum-Ahmed highlighted that breastfeeding is a right, not a privilege, and praised the World Bank’s ANRiN project and partners like UNICEF and WHO for their support. Creches at institutions including the State Ministry of Health and Barau Dikko Hospital aim to ease stress for mothers and promote infant nutrition while enhancing productivity. Officials urge other institutions to follow suit and build breastfeeding-friendly workplaces.
