EXPERTS URGE BOOST TO BAMBOO INDUSTRY FOR ECONOMIC GROWTH IN ANAMBRA AND NIGERIA

Experts at an Investors’ Forum in Awka, Anambra, have raised concerns over Nigeria’s untapped bamboo potential, highlighting its value for sustainable industrial growth and green economy. They stressed the need for better policy, modern processing facilities, and investment to harness bamboo’s benefits for job creation, environmental protection, and economic development.

With the global bamboo market booming—projected to hit $90 billion by 2030—speakers called for public-private partnerships, bamboo clusters, and national policies to unlock opportunities. Despite being West Africa’s second-largest bamboo producer, Nigeria currently lacks plantations and formal bamboo infrastructure, making investment vital to catch up with global players like China.
