EMERGENCY AGENCIES BOOST FLOOD PREPAREDNESS IN BORNO, ADAMAWA, AND YOBE

As flood risks rise in northeast Nigeria, emergency agencies and state governments in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe have stepped up efforts to protect residents. NEMA and SEMAs are intensifying monitoring, early warnings, and community engagement in flood-prone areas. Relief materials have been distributed, drainage channels cleared, and residents urged to heed warnings to reduce casualties.

Training sessions for local stakeholders, supported by UNICEF, are helping communities create tailored flood contingency plans. Governors Zulum, Fintiri, and others have reinforced urban planning and infrastructure upgrades to ease water flow and manage flood impacts. Public sensitization campaigns emphasize cleanliness and relocating from high-risk zones to enhance safety.
