COURT SETS OCTOBER 16 DEADLINE FOR EFCC, FORMER GOV. NYAKO TO SETTLE ₦29BN FRAUD CASE OUT OF COURT OR FACE TRIAL
The Federal High Court in Abuja is putting its foot down—EFCC and ex-Adamawa Governor Murtala Nyako have until October 16 to either wrap up their plea bargain on the alleged ₦29 billion fraud or get ready for a full-blown trial.
Justice Peter Lifu, tired of endless delays, made it clear this case, started in 2015, can’t drag on forever. Despite ongoing talks, the court warned that if no settlement is reached by the deadline, the trial will proceed in earnest. Nyako, his son Abdul-Aziz, and several companies stand accused of conspiracy, abuse of office, and money laundering tied to the massive fraud.
