NIGERIAN CORRECTIONAL SERVICE REPORTS 3,833 INMATES ON DEATH ROW NATIONWIDE

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) reveals 3,833 inmates are currently on death row across the country, debunking claims that Kano, Kaduna, and Lagos lead in numbers.

NCoS spokesman Abubakar Umar clarifies that Ogun, Rivers, Enugu, Lagos, and Delta States have the highest death row populations, with Ogun topping at 568. The service faces challenges managing these inmates amid congestion and costs but continues educating and training them to prepare for reintegration.
