GOVS ABIODUN, SANWO-OLU URGE MEDIA TO DEFEND DEMOCRACY AND NATIONAL INTEGRITY

At the 2025 Lateef Jakande Memorial Lecture, Ogun’s Gov. Abiodun and Lagos’ Gov. Sanwo-Olu call on journalists to champion truth, reject sensationalism, and protect Nigeria’s unity and democratic values.

They praised editors’ historic sacrifices for press freedom and highlighted Jakande’s legacy of fearless journalism and people-centered governance. Both governors stressed the media’s vital role against fake news in building a fair, unified, and prosperous Nigeria.
