UN WOMEN CALLS FOR MORE FUNDING TO EMPOWER WOMEN LIVING WITH HIV IN NIGERIA

Acting UN Women rep Patience Ekeoba urges stronger domestic funding from government, private sector, and charities to support women living with HIV—boosting access to care, rights, and leadership opportunities.

During an advocacy visit with ASWHAN Delta chapter to Delta State’s Women Affairs Commissioner, Ekeoba highlighted eight years of UN Women’s partnership, including advocacy training and toolkits across 18 southern states to empower women with HIV.

Commissioner Ajudua echoed the call, stressing that knowledge and stigma-free support are key to managing HIV, commending the advocates as proud survivors. Both pledged ongoing backing for inclusion, health access, economic empowerment, and education for those affected.
