FEDERAL HIGH COURT ADJOURNS NYAKO PLEA BARGAIN HEARING TO JULY 25
A Federal High Court in Abuja has postponed the plea bargain hearing between former Adamawa Governor Murtala Nyako and the EFCC until July 25, citing delays linked to the late President Buhari’s death.
EFCC’s lawyer, Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), explained the Attorney-General’s inability to finalize settlement talks due to mourning. Nyako’s counsel did not oppose the adjournment. Both sides had previously indicated progress toward an out-of-court settlement.
Nyako faces charges of criminal conspiracy, stealing, abuse of office, and money laundering connected to the alleged diversion of over N29 billion from Adamawa’s treasury between 2011 and 2014 through five companies. The Court of Appeal ordered Nyako and his son to enter defence after EFCC presented a prima facie case.
