5.8-MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE HITS EAST NUSA TENGGARA, NO TSUNAMI FEARS

A 5.8 quake shook Indonesia’s East Nusa Tenggara on Thursday, but no tsunami warning was issued.

The tremor struck at 4:04 p.m. near West Sumba, 10 km deep. Indonesia’s location on the Pacific Ring of Fire means earthquakes are common, with the nation also hosting 127 active volcanoes.
