Crackdown on Pirated Books and Flood Relief Efforts Make Waves Across Nigeria

From Ibadan’s bookshops to Kebbi’s government house, officials are stepping up to tackle piracy and disaster recovery — no pages or people left behind!

On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, the Nigeria Copyright Commission (NCC) turned up the heat on piracy in Ibadan. Led by Oyo State Coordinator Mrs. Ropo Oke, the NCC team conducted thorough inspections of bookshops and printing companies, aiming to stamp out pirated books and protect intellectual property rights. “Authenticity matters,” Mrs. Oke stressed during the operation, ensuring only genuine works make it to readers’ hands.
Meanwhile, in Kebbi State, a different kind of relief was underway. Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar, paid a visit to the Government House in Birnin Kebbi to hand over Federal Government relief materials to Governor Nasir Idris. The assistance aims to support victims of recent rainstorm and flood disasters ravaging the state.
