UNICEF URGES KEBBI ASSEMBLY TO PASS CHILD PROTECTION ACT AND CHILD BENEFIT ALLOWANCE
UNICEF calls on Kebbi lawmakers to fast-track the Child Protection Act and introduce child benefit allowances to boost education, healthcare, and welfare for vulnerable kids.
During a visit to the Kebbi House of Assembly, UNICEF’s Michael Juma highlighted the urgent need for a committee to push the pending Child Protection Act and support for children from poor local governments. He stressed that social protection is key to tackling Kebbi’s high poverty levels and improving access to essential services.
The Assembly Speaker, Alhaji Muhammad Usman-Zuru, pledged full support, promising to consider setting up the committee and forwarding the bill to the Executive for approval.
