JOURNALISM TAKES CENTRE STAGE AT LATEEF JAKANDE LECTURE 2025!

JOURNALISM TAKES CENTRE STAGE AT LATEEF JAKANDE LECTURE 2025!

Get ready, Lagos! The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) is back with the much-anticipated 3rd Lateef Jakande Memorial Lecture on July 23, 2025. This annual event honours the legendary Lateef Jakande — former Lagos State Governor, ace journalist, and ex-NGE President — whose legacy continues to inspire.

This year’s hot topic? “Journalism and the Challenge of Nation-Building in a Multi-Ethnic Society.” No better voice to tackle this than Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, CON, who will deliver the keynote at Ikeja’s Edmark D’Podium International Event Center. The event will be chaired by Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, with Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as Special Guest of Honour and Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mallam Mohammed Idris as Guest of Honour.

Since its 2023 debut with Chief Felix Adenaike and last year’s insightful session by Prince Nduka Obaigbena, this lecture series has been a powerhouse of ideas on media’s evolving role in society. This year promises more sharp insights on journalism’s pivotal role in knitting Nigeria’s diverse fabric.

Mark your calendars and stay tuned for a masterclass in media, governance, and nation-building!
