FCTA ARRESTS 210 BEGGARS IN OPERATION SWEEP ABUJA CRACKDOWN

Abuja’s streets are getting a major clean-up! The FCTA has rounded up 210 beggars—including children trafficked from other states—in a bold move to tackle crime and restore order.

Mrs. Gloria Onwuka, Acting Director of Social Welfare, revealed the operation, ordered by Minister Nyesom Wike, has already covered key areas like Garki, Kubwa, and Wuse. Beggars, scavengers, and criminal syndicates are being profiled and sent back to their home states, while police detain others.

Shockingly, some children were hired from states like Kano and Katsina to beg for strangers, with proceeds handed over to traffickers. The operation aims to rid Abuja of security threats and will continue until the city is safe.
