FAAN AND NCS TEAM UP TO FIGHT MONEY LAUNDERING, AIM TO REMOVE NIGERIA FROM FATF GREY LIST

Nigeria’s airports are stepping up security and financial checks as FAAN and Customs join forces to tackle money laundering and boost the country’s bid to exit the FATF grey list.

FAAN MD Olubunmi Kuku and NCS Controller General Adewale Adeniyi toured MMIA’s cargo terminal, highlighting new measures like stricter currency declaration for amounts over $10,000, streamlined passenger processing, and enhanced cargo security. Plans include merging currency declaration with arrival cards and using advanced tech for smoother operations.

Both agencies stressed that these efforts won’t compromise passenger convenience, aiming for nationwide standards and improved export handling. A FATF inspection team is expected soon, and Nigeria is confident it meets the requirements to get off the grey list.
