ENUGU AIR TAKES FLIGHT: KEYAMO AND MBAH LAUNCH NEW AVIATION ERA

Enugu just caught a serious flight fever! Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo and Governor Peter Mbah teamed up Monday to launch Enugu Air, the state-owned airline kicking off with three sleek Embraer jets. This bold move marks the start of Enugu’s journey to becoming a major aviation hub, with federal backing and private-sector savvy driving the project.
Keyamo praised Mbah’s relentless energy, calling him “incredible” and predicting he’ll be tough to beat in 2027 elections. The minister also revealed that the federal government concessioned Enugu Airport to attract private investments, admitting government-run airports were running at a loss. “Governor Mbah’s private-sector drive is creating an international aviation hub right here in Enugu,” Keyamo said.
The launch was a star-studded affair featuring the Catholic Bishop of Enugu, Fidelity Bank’s MD Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, and top state officials. Enugu Air will initially operate regional flights with plans to expand to African destinations, operated by XEJet.
This aviation leap is part of a broader transformation under Keyamo’s leadership, aligned with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to modernize Nigeria’s skies and boost economic growth. Enugu Air is not just a new airline; it’s a symbol of vision, persistence, and the power of public-private partnership taking flight in Nigeria’s southeast.
