DOUBLE THE EMOTION: FAREWELL AND FALLEN HEROES HONOURED ON A DAY OF REMEMBRANCE
Friday, July 4, 2025, was a day marked by both poignant farewells and heartfelt tributes across Nigeria. While Ibadan gathered to bid a final adieu to a beloved figure, Kaduna shone a spotlight on the unwavering strength and sacrifice of military families.
In the serene surroundings of All Souls’ Church Bodija, Ibadan, family and friends gathered to celebrate the life of the late Ogungbemi Oguntula. His widow, Mrs. Olusola Oguntula, flanked by her daughter, Mrs. Ayokunmi Akinade, and grandchildren, led the somber yet reflective funeral service, a testament to a life well-lived and cherished. Meanwhile, miles away in Kaduna, the spirit of community and remembrance pulsed during the 2025 Nigeria Army Day Celebration. The Nigerian Army Wives Association (NAWOA) played a pivotal role in honouring the sacrifices made by military families. A touching moment saw Bilkisu Ibrahim, Vice President of NAWOA, present a cash package to the Chairperson, Mrs. Nayana Cristofer, symbolizing their collective support. The event also highlighted the resilience of the widows of fallen heroes, who were pictured receiving palliatives, a poignant reminder of the enduring commitment to those who have given so much.
