PROJECT ALERT: SEXUAL VIOLENCE AGAINST MINORS GOES BEYOND RAPE
Project Alert on Violence Against Women has stressed that sexual violence against minors isn’t just about rape—it also includes exposure to pornography and other harmful acts. At their close-out meeting in Calabar, the NGO shared how their three-year “Kasa” (Speak Out) project, run in schools across Cross River and Akwa Ibom, helped raise awareness, set up support clubs, and empower students to report abuse.

Despite progress, the group highlighted ongoing challenges like lack of trust in school authorities and limited reporting mechanisms. They called on state governments and partners to sustain these efforts and keep protecting young people from all forms of sexual violence.
