NIGERIA, SAINT LUCIA SIGN DEAL TO DEPLOY TECHNICAL PROFESSIONALS
Nigeria and Saint Lucia have signed a Technical Manpower Assistance (TMA) agreement to send skilled Nigerian professionals—including teachers, doctors, and agriculturalists—to the Caribbean nation for two-year volunteer stints. The pact, signed in Castries, aims to boost South-South cooperation and aligns with President Tinubu’s vision of stronger regional partnerships.

Since May 2023, over 300 Nigerian volunteers have been deployed across Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific under the revitalized Technical Aid Corps (TAC) program. Nigeria also recently sent specialist nurses to Jamaica, which has expressed strong interest in Nigerian professionals to replace Asian labor.

TAC not only promotes diplomacy but is becoming a revenue source, showcasing Nigeria’s leadership in the Global South and supporting professional growth abroad.
