NIGERIAN WOMEN LEADERS CALL FOR SYSTEMIC REFORMS TO BOOST FEMALE LEADERSHIP
Nigerian women leaders and gender advocates are pushing for systemic changes to increase women’s presence in formal leadership roles. Speaking at a virtual event hosted by Gatefield, they highlighted that despite a 95.6% female labor participation rate, women hold only 33% of entry-level private sector jobs, with even fewer advancing to senior positions.

Aishah Ahmad, former CBN Deputy Governor, stressed that the issue is flawed systems, not lack of talent. Advocates also called for better care infrastructure and urged the media to focus on real leadership outcomes.

The group demands institutional commitment and gender-responsive policies to ensure fair representation across Nigeria’s sectors.
