Nigeria Taps Only 40% of Rubber Potential, Calls for Industry Revamp
The National Rubber Producers, Processors and Marketers Association (NARPPMAN) says Nigeria is exploiting just 40% of its vast rubber potential, with 60% still untapped. National President Peter Igbinosun highlighted that only 160,000 hectares of the 20 million suitable hectares are cultivated, limiting export earnings and industrial growth.

Once a top foreign exchange earner, Nigeria’s rubber sector has declined due to neglect, dropping from 12th to 23rd globally in export revenue. Igbinosun urges the federal government to create a National Rubber Policy, re-establish the National Rubber Board, and boost skilled labor training to revive the industry.
