FINAL PHASE OF POST-BREXIT “NOT FOR EU” FOOD LABELS ROLLS OUT
The UK has launched the final phase of “Not for EU” food labelling on products shipped from Great Britain to Northern Ireland under the Windsor Framework. Since 2023, these labels have marked goods to prevent onward movement into the EU. Now extended to eggs, fish, fruit, vegetables, and more, the labels aim to ensure compliance with EU rules Northern Ireland follows.

While some industry leaders call the rules “bureaucratic madness,” the government hopes a new agrifood deal will soon make the labels unnecessary. Contingency plans may expand labelling UK-wide if issues arise.
