CODE PARTNERS WITH HUMANx TO END PERIOD POVERTY IN NIGERIA
Connected Development (CODE) has teamed up with fashion house HUMANx to tackle period poverty among girls in remote Nigerian communities. CODE founder Hamzat Lawal highlighted that over 30 million Nigerian girls lack access to menstrual products, causing them to miss up to a week of school each cycle.
The partnership will distribute locally made reusable pads, aiming to improve hygiene, reduce infections, and keep girls in school. HUMANx will leverage CODE’s reach to underserved areas, while CODE plans to teach girls how to produce pads as part of entrepreneurial training.
The initiative kicks off with 200 reusable pads distributed across six states, starting in Kogi, promoting education, dignity, and freedom for girls nationwide.
