Spain’s El Granado hit a blistering 46°C over the weekend, setting a new June record and breaking a 60-year-old high. Across Spain and Portugal, temperatures soared above 40°C, with nights in southern Spain staying dangerously warm above 30°C.

The heatwave also slammed France, Greece, Italy, and the Balkans, triggering wildfires and health warnings. Paris may reach 40°C this week, while southern France fights multiple fires caused partly by careless barbecues. Greece cooled down quickly but remains on high wildfire alert.

Experts say these early, intense heatwaves are becoming the new norm due to climate change, raising serious health and environmental risks.
