NDLEA Destroys 30-Hectare Cannabis Farm, Arrests 191 in Cross River
The NDLEA has wiped out a massive 30-hectare cannabis plantation in Odukpani, Cross River, arresting several suspects and seizing 163.9kg of cannabis seeds. Between January and June, the agency confiscated over 6,700kg of illicit drugs—including cannabis, meth, cocaine, and heroin—and arrested 191 people, with 15 convictions so far.
Commander Rachel Umebuali raised concerns about locals shielding drug traffickers and stressed the need for prevention and community advocacy, despite challenges like underfunding and logistics.
