Imo Police Bust Child Trafficking Ring, Rescue 12 Children
Imo State Police have arrested 42-year-old Ann Ngozi Enyenwa for allegedly trafficking 12 children aged 5 to 13 from Ngor-Okpala to Aba, Abia State, where they were forced into street begging. The arrest followed an intelligence-led stop-and-search operation on June 20 along the Owerri-Aba Expressway.
The rescued children, all from various communities in Ngor-Okpala, are now in protective custody as efforts continue to reunite them with their families. Enyenwa confessed that proceeds from begging were sent to a motherless babies’ home in Rivers State, where she claimed to work.
Police have condemned child trafficking and urged the public to provide any information to aid the investigation.
