Edo Governor Champions Sports for Unity and Wellness on Olympic Day
Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has called on residents to embrace sports as a force for peace, health, and social inclusion. Speaking at the 2025 Olympic Day celebration in Benin (via his deputy, Dennis Idahosa), Okpebholo urged everyone to “rise and engage in physical activity,” highlighting how sports unite communities and inspire dreams.
The Olympic Day Run, flagged off by Edo Sports Commission Chair Amadin Enabulele, drew a diverse crowd of residents, athletes, and schoolchildren. Enabulele emphasized that the event is about participation, community, and living the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect.
