DRC AND RWANDA SIGN HISTORIC PEACE DEAL IN WASHINGTON

DRC and Rwanda Sign Historic Peace Deal in Washington, Ending 30 Years of Conflict
The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Rwanda have signed a landmark peace agreement in Washington, D.C., officially ending over three decades of violent conflict. The deal, witnessed by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and welcomed by President Donald Trump, marks a new era for both nations and the entire Great Lakes region.

DRC’s Foreign Minister Thérèse Wagner and Rwanda’s Olivier Nduhungirehe committed to real action, justice, and the safe return of refugees. The agreement establishes a joint security mechanism and pledges to address the root causes of the conflict, including the neutralization of armed militias.

The U.S., African Union, Qatar, and Togo all played key roles in brokering the deal, with a summit of regional leaders set for the White House soon.
