FOOTBALL STAR FLIPS FROM GOALS TO GUILTY: NDLEA SCOOPS DRUG RING IN LAGOS!
From Brazil’s pitch to Nigeria’s airport carpark — former footballer Segun George Hunkarin’s latest “match” ended with NDLEA nabbing him in a cocaine caper. Talk about a career red card!
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) just scored big, arresting ex-footballer Segun George Hunkarin at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed Airport. The twist? He was linked to a cocaine haul smuggled via a Turkish transit passenger, Ntoruka Emmanuel Chinedu, who got caught with 800 grams of coke hidden in his carry-on. Chinedu picked up the stash in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and was supposed to hand it off to Hunkarin.
Hunkarin admitted to past drug runs from Brazil to Ethiopia during his playing days but denied bringing drugs into Nigeria. Meanwhile, NDLEA also busted a Europe-based businessman with 5,000 tramadol pills camouflaged as malaria meds, plus two other suspects caught with meth and liquid cocaine at Enugu airport.
The crackdown didn’t stop there: cannabis smuggling attempts at the Seme border and arrests of notorious dealers and even a 72-year-old granny with skunk in Delta State. NDLEA’s War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign is also hitting schools hard, raising awareness nationwide.
NDLEA boss Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd.) praised his team’s relentless fight on all fronts, saying every bust brings Nigeria closer to a drug-free future.
