MultiChoice Nigeria CEO, Chairman, and Top Execs to Be Arraigned Over Regulatory Breach
The Federal Government will arraign MultiChoice Nigeria’s Chairman Adewunmi Ogunsanya, CEO John Ugbe, and six other senior executives on October 7 for allegedly breaching the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act, 2018. The charges include failing to comply with FCCPC summons and obstructing investigations into the company’s controversial price hikes.
Justice James Omotosho adjourned the case after the defendants missed court due to improper service of documents. The FCCPC accuses MultiChoice of ignoring lawful orders to justify subscription price increases and impeding regulatory probes, actions viewed as undermining consumer rights and fair competition.
MultiChoice had earlier sought to block FCCPC’s actions through court but was dismissed for abuse of process. The upcoming arraignment marks a critical step in holding the pay-TV giant accountable.
