Lagos to Host 23rd African Fencing Championships with Rising Star Inkosi Brou in Spotlight
Lagos is set to welcome over 150 of Africa’s top fencers from June 25-29 for the 23rd African Fencing Championships at Charterhouse Lagos. Nigeria’s 17-year-old sensation, Inkosi Brou, will lead the local charge in this high-stakes, 12-event tournament featuring individual and team battles across foil, épée, and sabre.
With 18 nations competing, including Olympic medalists from Paris 2024, the championship promises fierce rivalries and world-class action. Egypt’s dominance looms large, but Brou and Nigeria’s young squad are eager to break their medal drought and gain crucial ranking points ahead of LA 2028.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will officially open the event, marking another milestone for Charterhouse, which hosted Nigeria’s first Fencing World Cup last year.
